To protect the algae from the harmful effects of solar radiation, some lichens, when dehydrated, curl up to show the lower part of the thallus more opaque to the light. When rehydrated, they uncoil and reveal the translucent upper side again to allow photosynthesis.

Per protegir les algues dels els efectes nocius de la radiació solar, alguns líquens, quan es deshidraten, es cargolen per mostrar la part inferior del tal·lus més opaca a la llum. Quan es tornen a hidratar, es descargolen i tornen a mostrar la cara superior translúcida per permetre la fotosíntesi.

During unfavorable periods for development, the leaves of some deciduous plants can remain on the individual until the emergence of new ones. This strategy allows protection from water and thermal stress and deters herbivores from feeding on the tenderest branches and shoots.

Durant els períodes desfavorables per al desenvolupament, les fulles d’algunes plantes caducifòlies poden romandre sobre l’individu fins a la sortida de les noves. The flowers of the laurustinus (Viburnum tinus), a Mediterranean shrub typical of the coastal oak forest, are grouped in inflorescences at the end of the branches and are all arranged in the same plane. Those flowers, with pink hues, give the feeling of being small candies just before they open.

Les flors del marfull (Viburnum tinus), un arbust mediterrani típic de l’alzinar litoral, s’agrupen en inflorescències a l’extrem de les branques i es disposen totes en el mateix pla. Aquetes flors, de tonalitats rosades, donen la sensació de ser petits caramels just abans d’obrir-se.
