The rising groundwater level of the Massif of Garraf caused by the rainfalls, creates a singular outcrops of fresh water that can be seen on the beaches of Sitges. For this reason, one of them has been named the beach of Aiguadolç (“freshwater”).

L’augment de nivell de les aigües freàtiques del Massís del Garraf provocat per les pluges, crea uns curiosos afloraments d’aigua dolça que es poden observar a les mateixes platges de Sitges. Per aquest motiu, una d’elles ha estat batejada com la platja d’Aiguadolç.

INVERTED VASE

The strawberry tree flowers form a sort of inverted vase where the stamens are based on waiting for a Bumblebee come in to encourage fertilization.
 

Les flors del cirerer d’arboç formen una espècie de gerro capgirat on s’assenten els estams tot esperant que algun borinot s’atreveixi a entrar per afavorir la fecundació.

 

GREEN SHOOTS

Despite the morbid appearance, the outer part of the trunk of the strawberry tree retains physiologically active cells capable of producing a new branch. They are really green shoots!

Malgrat la mòrbida aparença, la part més exterior del tronc d’aquest cirerer d’arboç conserva cèl·lules fisiològicament actives capaces de produir una nova branca. Això si que son brots verds!

The old strawberry tree bark emerges in the form of thin sheets imitating the leather change of some animal species during the moult.

La vella escorça d’aquest cirerer d’arboç es desprèn en forma de fines làmines tot imitant el canvi de pell d’algunes espècies animals durant l’època de muda.
