Les combinacions de colors que avisen de la perillositat d’un organisme poden ser adoptats per altres que són totalment inofensius amb l’esperança d’evitar ser atacats pels seus depredadors. Aquesta pràctica, és el que es coneix com a mimetisme batesià.

The basic function of caterpillars is to accumulate reserves and therefore they will have to molt the skin 4 or 5 times to adapt to the growth of their body. When the time comes, they will transform into chrysalis and later into butterflies through the process known as metamorphosis.
