The basic function of caterpillars is to accumulate reserves and therefore they will have to molt the skin 4 or 5 times to adapt to the growth of their body. When the time comes, they will transform into chrysalis and later into butterflies through the process known as metamorphosis.
La funció bàsica de les erugues és acumular reserves i, per tant, hauran de mudar la pell 4 ò 5 cops per adaptar-se al creixement del seu cos. En arribar el moment es transformaran en crisàlides i més tard en papallones mitjançant el procés conegut com a metamorfosi.
